From my series of pictures named with a song title Be Yourself- Audioslave
The song (and picture) mean a lot to me. The song has also grown in significance recently. Inspired by: Someone falls to pieces Sleeping all alone Someone kills the pain Spinning in the silence To finally drift away Someone gets excited In a chapel yard And catches a bouquet Another lays a dozen White roses on a grave
Yeahhh...
And to be yourself is all that you can do Heyyyy... To be yourself is all that you can do
Someone finds salvation in everyone Another only pain Someone tries to hide himself Down inside himself he prays Someone swears his true love Until the end of time Another runs away Separate or united Healthy or insane
And to be yourself is all that you can do (all that you can do) Yeahhh... To be yourself is all that you can do (all that you can do) To be yourself is all that you can do (all that you can do) Heyyyy... Be yourself is all that you can do
Even when you've paid enough Been pulled apart or been held up Every single memory of the good or bad Faces of love Don't lose any sleep tonight I'm sure everything will end up alright You may win or lose ¨ But to be yourself is all that you can do Yeahhh... To be yourself is all that you can do
1) Firstly the way you have put the mask over half of your face is a great technique as it is a way of showing that people are hiding their real selves as you are hiding the left side of your face behind the mask.
2. The way you have made most of the picture black and white, then you have the words "be yourself" in bright red is just pure genius. I can see the message very clearly indeed from that.
3. The amount of personality traits you have written down on the mask keeps me looking at it for a while to see how many there are altogether that may or may not be intended but it is a nice touch the way you have filled it up I think.
Over all I think this is a top top deviation and definitely worth having as a print or a poster. A very important message to everybody. Be yourself.
I love how such a big thing is complied into one simple photo. Many people hide behind these masks daily and live their lives in them; they eat and drink, talk and play in them never thinking for a moment to remove them and show the world the real them, the person who they truly are.
I like how all the things we're trying to hide from the world are written on the mask to show off, but at the same time making the mask more complicated to hide behind. The positioning of the mask is also very effective; how half the face is hidden as if not wanting to reveal their whole personality to the world (even though it's written on the mask) but the eye can be seen, like through a mask.
I also adore how many of the word contradict each other and some stand alone to make their stand against the others. The overall image is stunning and beautiful idea which has been pulled off expertly well.
