The song (and picture) mean a lot to me. The song has also grown in significance recently. Inspired by: Someone falls to pieces Sleeping all alone Someone kills the pain Spinning in the silence To finally drift away Someone gets excited In a chapel yard And catches a bouquet Another lays a dozen White roses on a grave Yeahhh... And to be yourself is all that you can do Heyyyy... To be yourself is all that you can do Someone finds salvation in everyone Another only pain Someone tries to hide himself Down inside himself he prays Someone swears his true love Until the end of time Another runs away Separate or united Healthy or insane And to be yourself is all that you can do (all that you can do) Yeahhh... An interesting change to it, would be to do the exact same thing, only have the writing on your face and pull off the blank white mask that unveils all the different things that you hide underneath. Again, this is fine the way it is. But a nice compliment would be an inverse. Keep up the good work V cheers. nice idea! may be a little harder to do since i had to do this on my own. i did have a few other ideas i did in the same photoshoot, but they didn't look...right.

I purchased a similar mask from Micheal's in hopes of doing something creative with it. Good job grrl. I like Vgrid's idea also, might be pretty interesting.

Critiques
I like how all the things we're trying to hide from the world are written on the mask to show off, but at the same time making the mask more complicated to hide behind. The positioning of the mask is also very effective; how half the face is hidden as if not wanting to reveal their whole personality to the world (even though it's written on the mask) but the eye can be seen, like through a mask.
I also adore how many of the word contradict each other and some stand alone to make their stand against the others. The overall image is stunning and beautiful idea which has been pulled off expertly well.
It's composition is simple and straightforward, however it's meaning is clear and genius. By choosing to have the image in black and white, except for the words "Be Yourself' shows the priority and importance of this advice - essentially screw the stereotypes and false shells; be yourself.
Many members of our society hide behind masks of false personalities and we should all just be ourselves rather than who others want us to be. Well done to @Xerces for bringing this issue to light in an orginal way that hits a nerve in everyone who happens to stumble upon it. Simply; inspiring.
