Dream Supreme by Xerces Dream Supreme by Xerces
Just a pretty fractal I decided to put up. I had a crappy day, so I needed some artistic relief to keep myself from burning Manchester to the ground. I don't have problem with the city. It just seemed like a good idea at the time =|

Enjoy it in all its infinite boringness.

This is NOT a Stock Image. This may only be used with prior permission.
I give full permission for Geoff Adams (a.k.a. Neotiger) to use this in his websites

Reminds me of a bird skull (no idea why, lol)...but it is most certainly not boring. I really like the white in it, I havent ever thought of using that as a main color...but it works very well in here =)

Thanks for sharing, and for giving me a few ideas =D

Hey, just wondering, what exactly can people do with stock images?

:iconxerces:
Xerces Featured By Owner Jun 23, 2007  Professional Artisan Crafter
well, usually they are used for photomanipulations to create a new picture. i have a separate stock account full of photos for people to edit themselves. my gallery obviously isn't for people to edit =D

Hmmm, what a coincidence...the very person who advised I make a fractal thread to meet others happens to have already commented on one of the first responders in that thread. Hello again =)

Good advice by the way, already starting to see some cool ideas...and it's nice to meet others

its a very intricate boringness.
and pretty.

and if you had it put up on your wall people would likely talk about it and ask about it and they would be less bored.

just staring at something though, can be pretty boring if there are no thoughts to follow the image... such things happen when i am already bored.

=D guess it's not so boring. Fractals seem to be the least noticed works in my gallery. i felt people thought they were boring :-(
thanks for your comment :-)

I don't think that it's boring, I like it. The cold colors combinated with the black background. Not always the same Black-/Red-combination. Perhaps an eye-catching thing in the center would be good? Something in a warm color.
Well done :)

thanks. glad you like it. Fractals are probably my least popular works, hence why i said that. my boyfriend uses them for website design =D
i'll go back to this when i have my laptop and see if i can alter it a bit.

Fantastic work here, this may sound random but when I look at it I kind of get the image of a kind of all-powerful human pig face... Maybe I'm just weird!

Hmmm, burning Manchester to the ground aye, sounds like fun!

I have no idea how to do...fractal(?) art, so boring to you, interesting and cool to me. How long did this take?
Reply
:iconxerces:
Xerces Featured By Owner Mar 23, 2007  Professional Artisan Crafter
well, i'm not so good on the maths side of them, but so far as creating a random batch and altering one until it looks good, i can manage that =D
you should download apophysis or something and have a stab at some :-)
i don't necessarily find it boring, but fractals are the most unpopular of my art. i'm always hesitant at putting them up just cos they usually go unnoticed. i never seem to get much feedback on them. i can't really tell if i'm getting any better at them or not... =|
it didn't take me to long to create the fractal itself. i changed the colours and moved everything around. i'd say about 15 minutes to complete the fractal to how i wanted it, the about 25-35 minutes to render at high quality PNG (my lappy doesn't have the most processing power ever, i can assure you!)

I'm not really sure how you would know. But I checked and it's free. One question to Xerces though: what's the forced symmetry and where's the button for it?

But I would LOVE to use your stock if you set one up. Definitely let me know. ^^
