From my series of pictures named with a song title The Flight Of Icarus- Iron Maiden
Indeed, this is similar to The Fallen Angel but with a lot more blood. The story of Icarus reports that he landed in the sea: His father cried, Icarus, Icarus, where are you? At last he saw the feathers floating on the water, and bitterly lamenting his own arts, he buried the body and called the land Icaria in memory of his child. Daedalus arrived safe in Sicily, where he built a temple to Apollo, and hung up his wings, an offering to the god." (Thomas Bulfinch). I took a different approach, obviously, since Manchester is not blessed with a sea. Welcome to my back yard.
Inspired by: Now the crowd breaks and a young boy appears Look the old man in his eyes As he spreads his wings and shouts at the crowd In the name of God my father I fly
His eyes seem so glazed As he flies on the wings of a dream Now he knows his father betrayed Now his wings burn to ashes to ashes his grave
Fly on your way like an eagle Fly as high as the sun On your wings like an eagle Fly and touch the sun
There is a large amount of melted wax in the picture, although it is hard to see (much of it is between the feathers and the hand). The three feathers on the left are tied together with black thread and wax. Blood is glycerine based.

Read- All blood and injuries in this PHOTOGRAPH is entirely fake. It is a display of FX make up and is not depicting any kind of self-harm, nor is it condoning it or glorifying any act of self-harm in any way. Please respect this at all times.
Wow, this is beautiful. The tale of Icarus has always been my favorite, and this is an interesting depiction of it. It's fantastic that you included the wax. Very thorough. I do agree with theonlypenguin though, a backdrop that is a bit less modern would've looked very neat, although the imagery makes up for it.
Yeah- i agree a more vintage or countryside feel to it would have been more appropriate. I need to find some good sets! Very glad you like it all the same
i have such a sick mind...as soon as i saw the title and thumbnail, i giggled... poor icarus. i'm really liking that the arm is the subject of the photo; once again, really realistic blood.
