Much too long
Yes- it's been much too long since I last updated my journal. Too much has been going on, but I've been getting through it, and finally have a short while to say hello!
Welcome, new watchers, and thank you to everyone that has faved my work recently. My inbox is still bursting, but I'll get through it eventually!

Photoshoots
I had a very fun day yesterday with Herr-Flick and silverbolt2012 modelling and photographing. We've been working to complete some of Herr-Flick's projects. We've got a fair few photos done between us, and with only pizza to fuel us as well!

Treatment
I was upset to find that recently, the lovely anjules, has hung up her @ hat. Why? Largely because she was disgusted at the utter harsh and disgraceful language from some of the members of this site.
I'd like to just let people here remember what it is volunteer moderators on this site do. Not just MNs, but GMs as well.
Volunteers help this site massively- they sort miscats, give out DDs, moderate forums, moderate official chatrooms, think up and organise contests, organise features, write journals and news articles, helping with featured chats, choosing features channels, approving dAmnit quotes and checking out the other chatrooms on the network are behaving.
That's a fair amount of stuff to do, and it is all done without pay and in our own time. We're cool with not being paid, and with this being done in our own time- we wouldn't have applied, otherwise. But what is really not appreciated, is the minority of the members of the site being utterly foul-mouthed and spewing vitriol at every chance they get.
And the fact we volunteer doesn't make it okay for people to treat the paid staff of deviantART either.
I feel a lot of people hide behind their internet anonymity like some sort of shield, and they seem to think it's fine to throw all manners of shit out from behind it. We're not here for your shit, and we're not here to be the outlet for your pathetic vitriol. We're here to be a moving cog in an amazing machine- the dA machine.
Okay, so you don't like X daily deviation? Then tell the appropriate GM why you feel it is not suitable. Don't bitch at the artist, and don't bitch at the GM that chose it. The artist didn't ask for a DD, and the GM has chosen it because someone submitted it as a suggestion, and because THEY like it. Art is subjective! We know we can't please all the people all the time, and it's up to you to critique that, but do it in a mature and helpful manner! Don't insult the person you feel is responsible just because YOU don't like something they did. Don't throw a tantrum like a child and throw abuse. Say WHY you don't like it, and perhaps suggest what can be done to improve it. "You're shit" doesn't cover either of those bases.
Okay, so someone locked your thread. Don't fly off the handle and bitch and bitch because you think you've been unfairly treated. Sometimes we get it wrong, yes, but the vast majority of the time, threads are locked because they've been misplaced. If you've written a thread better suited to another forum, and we lock it, we tell you why it has been locked, and an alternative place to post it. Sure, it might not get the exposure you wanted, but that's not up to us. If you rabidly refuse to repost it in a more appropriate place, then we can't help you help yourself. You might think we're entirely wrong, but even if you do, how much effort does it take to tell someone maturely that you're not happy? Is it so hard to not call someone a cunt? Is it so hard to ask in real words "why does this thread not fit here? I thought this was okay to post." It's much more respectable to read something like that, rather than "Fuck off. This isn't against the rules. What the fuck is your problem?"
It's actually a breath of fresh air these days to receive a message from someone that wasn't happy containing eloquent and thought-out language. And I thank those people that approach us with respect and maturity, because your feedback and critique end up making the site a better place. Please don't dirty our views with abusive language and petty arguments to try and get your point across. Although we may seem to have thick skin, that's no reason to stick the knife in further and further each time you feel you've been wronged.
We volunteer here because we love the site and want to make a difference. Please don't make us regret that choice.
